(2022- ongoing)

Disappointing Light is an ongoing photographic series captured across cities and in-between spaces of Türkiye. The project observes how light shapes perception. It appears in harsh, sudden, and uneven ways, revealing and concealing at the same time.

To capture diverse landscapes and identities, the series moves beyond familiar urban imagery and explores a wide range of locations, from city edges to peripheral and transient spaces. Rather than presenting a unified narrative, the images remain as fragments, reflecting the rhythm of a country in a constant state of transition.

Through these observations, the work questions how places are seen, remembered, and misread. Light becomes both a subject and a metaphor, unstable, partial, and charged with tension.

Özge Ertürk is a local artist currently based in Berlin. In this series, she turns her gaze toward new ways of seeing and belonging, using photography as a tool to navigate distance, displacement, and shifting identity between geographies.
